A Journey of Change

Jesus says we are in the world, but not of it. The Kingdom of God is in the believer bringing a peace only His Spirit can bring that is not measured out by circumstance in life. Its more about having peace through Christ with Father God. It changes the way of a believer over time. It supports life. The Father’s love brings warmth and joy in a world of cold. In the end of the journey a believer will pass through death to the Father in resurrection. Then the Kingdom inside the believer will no longer be in conflict. Kingdom meets Kingdom in Christ. An iceberg is something like that.

A journey is about to begin in a cold region far away. Ice flows from mountain peaks and meets a great sea. The glacier births with a mighty splash. Up from the spewing fountain of spray emerges an iceberg. In the deepest part of the floating iceberg, peace and silence rejoice as the traveler starts on its way.

The ice is green in the light of the sun from afar, but blue up close. The iceberg floats and bobs adrift upon wide expanses of slate grey ocean, frothed in turmoil. Tempests come. They howl and blow over frigid ocean waves with fingers of cold death. In a raging, churning fury the ice dances as if delighted. The turbulent weather relents.

Life abounds on this host with penguins that love to swim. They slide down slippery chutes to the liquid feeding ground all around. They climb back on and then dive with joy. The feathered creatures enjoy their ice island.

Mighty currents deliver the huge ice mountain to a warmer abode. The rough besieging of the cold is left behind. The journey is effortless and strains not a bit. Gradually the ice in motion is more and more like its destination; from stiff and cold to streaming and warm. At the end of the journey its new form is complete, joining with green pastures of wavy heavenly warmth. The friendly waters embrace it; welcome it; and call it their own. In its new found home, the iceberg remains.

  1. A beautiful and visceral metaphor for a hard to grasp but absolutely wonderful TRUTH. My penguin on the passage to change is Isaac’s joy and passion about EVERYTHING!
