Wickedness surrounded me in youth, but the Spirit of the Lord is strong!
Evil attacked me denying truth, but the Spirit of the Lord is my song!
Darkness came in many ways, but the Spirit of the Lord rights the wrong.
He is love to me. He sets me free.
He is Spirit of Truth. He knows me from youth.
Spirit of the Lord, I believe in you.
You are my strength. I believe in you.
You are my salvation. I believe in you.
In you is my victory. I believe in you.
In you is my life. I believe in you.
Who is the Holy Spirit? He is the Spirit of God. Jesus let his disciples know that they would not be orphans when he went to the Father. How could that be? How could Jesus be with his disciples if he went to the Father? That promise would be fulfilled by sending the Holy Spirit, who is one of the three ways God reveals him self to us.
God is God the Father, God in Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. All together they are one and the same God; the Trinity.
God the Father is God who is the Father of Jesus. Jesus was known by his Hebrew name, Yeshua. He was born human, yet God too. The Holy Spirit of God came upon Mary, a virgin, who agreed to give birth to the Jewish Messiah. He is the Seed that was promised to Adam and Eve. Jesus is known as the Word.
The Holy Spirit is who puts God’s word into action. He is renown for his unlimited power in moving God’s will and word into tangible reality. God the Holy Spirit is known to bring the nature of God to us. Examples are Life, Comfort as in bringing strength, Truth, good fruit, Resurrection, and new (spiritual) birth.
The Holy Spirit is where we are. He is here, wherever you are. For those who have called on the Lord Jesus to have eternal life and be with him, the Holy Spirit is in you, not just where you are.
Call out to the Lord. Call out and pray. He is here, and he ministers. The bible puts it this way:
Without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 WEB )
Here are scriptures showing the Holy Spirit action:
In creation;
In the beginning, God[a] created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters. (Genesis 1:1,2 WEB)
In the birth of the Son of God, Jesus;
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?” 35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:34,35 WEB)
In the baptism of Jesus;
9 In those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan. 10 Immediately coming up from the water, he saw the heavens parting and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11 A voice came out of the sky, “You are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:9-11 WEB)
In being with believers, teaching, and reminding us of all that Jesus said;
16 I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, [a] that he may be with you forever: 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. (John 14: 16, and 26 WEB)
In raising Jesus from the dead to eternal life;
11 But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you (Romans 8:11 WEB)
In new birth of the believer;
5 Jesus answered, “Most certainly I tell you, unless one is born of water and spirit, he can’t enter into God’s Kingdom. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh. That which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Don’t marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born anew.’ 8 The wind blows where it wants to, and you hear its sound, but don’t know where it comes from and where it is going. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:5-8 WEB)
In bringing comfort, strength, and truth;
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, 17 even the Spirit of truth: whom the world cannot receive; for it beholdeth him not, neither knoweth him: ye know him; for he abideth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:16,17 ASV)
Infilling the believer;
37 In the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. 38 He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for [the] Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. (John 7:37-39 DARBY)
In bearing “good fruit” through the believer;
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, fidelity, 23 meekness, self-control: against such things there is no law. 24 But they that [are] of the Christ have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us walk also by the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25 DARBY)
Recognizing the living Messiah;
27 Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” 28 They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, but others, one of the prophets.” 29 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” (Mark 8:27-29 WEB)
Communion of the Holy Spirit is real and vital in nurturing ongoing relationship with God through Christ. Paul even wrote a blessing to the believers in Corinth. “14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, [be] with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14 DARBY)
