God the Father sent his Son
1You are my anchor. You are my friend: my covenant friend
2You called me. You are my savior who called me!
You are my 3first love: true love who came down from the Father in heaven.
You are so humble, so gentle4, so mighty to pierce the darkness to overthrow the enemy.
You bring comfort and warmth in your 5wings. You are healing oil to my wounds.
You wipe away tears; remove the guilt and the 6condemnation of this world!
You call me to eat and drink what is life-giving! 7Your word and your Spirit gave me a new birth.
Where we met, you were on the cross. Your wounds were many with shed blood and crown of thorns.
Your eyes of light were filled with compassion! You invited my soul. You captured my heart.
Where we met, my unworthiness became yours. You bore it on the cross in the shedding of your own life!
Your inheritance became mine. 8Your Spirit of adoption brought me into your house.
You called me chosen. You called me to your resurrection life with you in our Father’s house.
He became my God through you. 9Death and Hades are no match for you!
You are the Holy one of Israel, Savior, King of Kings, Lamb of God, my Mediator and High Priest, Yeshua, anointed Messiah, Jesus Christ, Son of God.
I come to you, to remember you my first love. Bless your name forever, worthy king of eternity!
- In Christ the promise of blessing and eternal life with God is fulfilled. Hope in the promise is strong and unchanging. It is confident with expectation. It is pictured as an anchor. The High Priest stands in for people who want relationship with God and the promise of life. Jesus Christ is the ultimate in fulfilling the role of High Priest.
The relationship we have through Christ with God the Father is shown in friendship and covenant. God would accomplish this covenant through Christ at the last supper and the cross.
19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and entering into that which is within the veil; 20 where as a forerunner Jesus entered for us, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:19-20 WEB)

↩︎ - The “Call” of God through Christ is to bring people into his kingdom with eternal life and blessing. He established this while we were hostile toward him.
